Andrew McNamara
Andrew McNamara, the inaugural Chair of the Yarra Energy Foundation Limited, a company formed by the City of Yarra to drive greenhouse gas emissions reductions for its 78,000 residents.
Andrew is also employed as the General Manager, Strategic and International Policy with the Energy Supply Association of Australia. This is one of the most senior energy analyst positions in Australia, providing thought leadership and strategic insights to the CEOs of Australia’s largest energy generation, transmission, distribution and retail companies.
Previously, Andrew was a Member of the Queensland Parliament for 8 years from 2001 and served as Minister for Sustainability, Climate Change and Innovation in the Bligh Labor government between 2007 and 2009.
Andrew will talk about how peak oil and climate change are driving a new energy future. He will provide some insight into what is being done to manage this transition and describe how the City of Yarra is working towards its goal of being carbon neutral by 2020.
